STAND UP PADDLE LESSONS

Stand up paddling  is one of the fastest growing sports in America right now. Water is all you need. Lakes, calm rivers, marinas, flat ocean water, and the surf are some examples of where you can SUP. There are no limitations to the sport. The planet is 70 plus percent water, so the sport is not restricted.

Beginner lessons are in flat water only.

Beginner lessons are one and one half hours.

No more than 4 students per instructor.

Private lessons are suggested.

You  begin with a short land lesson that involves :

Three basic paddle strokes:

thrust stroke

control stroke

distance stroke

Three basic board positions:

knee paddling

sit paddling

parallel paddling

We teach:

How to correctly mount your board in shallow and deep water

Self rescue

How to fall correctly in shallow water and in deep water

After practicing these skills on land we then enter the water. First we learn to paddle on our knees with basic paddle strokes. After a few minutes in the water you will be ready to take stance on your board.

We will teach the following in the water:

How you turn the board 180 degrees

How to stop and slow down with stability

How to build and decrease speed with multiple paddle strokes

Correct posture while paddling

Relaxation techniques

Now that we have worked on our fundamentals it’s time to apply them.
